Painted Signs

buck sign 72.jpg (14710 bytes)

Sign for Buckleys Yesterdays World
at Battle, East Sussex

Hand painted signs are part of our history and heritage. We are told that there is no future for the skills of the experienced sign writer. We believe that there is always a future for quality and our order book confirms this. Increasingly, planning authorities are insisting on traditional hand painted signs in conservation areas and prohibiting garish plastic signs. Enlightened quality businesses appreciate the importance of their image to potential customers, through quality signs.

A few of the major advantages of hand painted signs over vinyl graphics are:

A hand painted sign will outlast vinyl several times over.

The balance and spacing of text is based on optical correctness rather than measured spacing.

The colours of text and background can be fine tuned to the customer's specific requirements by mixing paint. We are not limited to the vinyl colours available from the manufacturers.

Vinyl expands and contracts with heat and cold and as it does it leaves a residue of adhesive around the edges of the letters, this becomes a magnet for dust and dirt.

Standard fonts can be modified or changed to suit specific design requirements.

We believe there is a market and future for vinyl graphics where one requires cheap, temporary, repeatable and expedient signs, as with commercial vehicles, but we have not and will not get involved with them.
